Release notes

v8.1.7

Athlete markers on the race map gain direction arrows and smooth motion, penalty indicators on the map are clearer, and the athlete number keypad now scales correctly on every screen.

v8.1.4

The drafting view is easier to read on tablets, athlete positions stay in motion between GPS updates, and race-mode location tracking is faster and more reliable.

Officiating

  • Technical officials: The drafting view on tablets is 15% larger — bib numbers, distances, and DRAFTING/CLEAR labels all scale up for easier reading at arm's length on a moto-mounted tablet.
  • Technical officials: Each athlete row in the drafting view now shows the name of the paired drafting device in small text below the status label, useful for spotting pairing issues or mis-assigned bibs mid-race.
  • Athlete positions on the drafting widget now keep moving smoothly for up to 15 seconds between GPS fixes, instead of freezing after 5 seconds. With real-world phone update rates of 10–15 seconds, every athlete now stays in continuous motion on screen, so the draft zone reads correctly mid-race instead of looking like athletes have separated.

Behind the scenes

  • Race-mode location tracking now reaches full speed within seconds of starting, rather than after a multi-minute delay on first start.
  • Officials' GPS positions update more frequently in race mode, making on-course location more responsive.
  • Drafting distance readings are steadier during brief GPS gaps — positions are now projected more conservatively based on measured real-world fix timing.
  • The drafting widget refreshes correctly after certain on-screen interactions.

Welcome to the RaceRanger docs

This is the first entry in the RaceRanger release notes.

From here on, every app update will get its own post describing what's new. Updates are grouped by role — organisation admins, technical delegates, and technical officials — so you can scan quickly for what affects you.
