Collecting feedback

Your organisation can collect feedback from officials automatically after every event. You define a set of questions once, and the app asks each participant to answer them when an event finishes.

How it works

  1. You build a feedback form in your organisation settings.
  2. When an event is marked as completed, everyone who took part receives a feedback request, with a push notification.
  3. The next time each of them opens the app, the feedback sheet appears with your questions. Every few months it also starts with a short rating of the app itself.
  4. Their answers are collected against your organisation.

Feedback answers are stored against the organisation rather than the event, so they're kept even if the event itself is deleted.

Setting up the questions

Choose Edit organization on your organisation's page and open the Feedback tab. Turn on Collect post-event feedback, then choose Add question for each question you want to ask.

For each question you choose:

  • Type — one of:
    • Star rating — a 1–5 star rating.
    • Yes / No — a simple two-option answer.
    • Single choice — pick one option from a list you define.
    • Multiple choice — tick any number of options you define.
    • Free text — a free-form written answer.
  • Question text — the question shown to the official.
  • Option — for the choice types, the answers to choose from. Add more with Add option.
  • Required — whether an official must answer before they can submit.

You can reorder questions with Move up and Move down, and Remove ones you no longer need. Questions with a blank question text (and blank options) are dropped automatically when you save. Save with Save organization.

If your organisation has no questions set up, officials are occasionally asked just to rate the app after an event — at most every few months.

A good starting set

A short form gets the best response rate. A useful default covers one question of each type, for example:

  • How would you rate your overall experience at this event? (rating, required)
  • Did the RaceRanger app help you officiate effectively? (yes / no, required)
  • Which part of the app worked best for you? (single choice)
  • Which areas could we improve? (multiple choice)
  • Anything else you'd like to share with the organisers? (text)

Reviewing responses

Each official submits their own response once per event. The app has no screen for reading your organisation's answers yet — ask the RaceRanger team for them. Officials can see their own submitted answers but not anyone else's; see Event feedback.
