Athlete management

Athletes are the people competing in a race. Managing the athlete list ensures that officials can quickly look up athlete numbers when submitting penalties and incidents.

How athletes are added

Athlete data is currently available only for organisations with an API integration. For these organisations, athlete lists are imported automatically when the event is synced.

Organisations without API integration don't have pre-loaded athlete lists. Officials enter athlete numbers manually during penalty and incident submission, and the number is validated against the configured number series.

Number series

Number series define the valid athlete number ranges for each race. Even without a full athlete list, number series are important:

  • Set minimum and maximum numbers per gender category.
  • Link number series to specific races when multiple races share an event.
  • When an official enters an athlete number, the app validates it against the number series to catch typos and ensure the number belongs to the correct race.

Athlete status flags

During a race, athletes can be flagged with status indicators:

  • DNF (Did Not Finish) — the athlete withdrew from the race.
  • DNS (Did Not Start) — the athlete didn't start.
  • DSQ (Disqualified) — the athlete was disqualified.
  • Lapped — the athlete was lapped.
  • Has penalty — the athlete has at least one penalty.
  • Has drafting penalty — the athlete has a drafting-specific penalty.

These flags are updated automatically when penalties and incidents are submitted.

Relay athletes

For relay races, athletes are identified by a combination of their race number and a relay code (e.g. "42A", "42B"). The relay code distinguishes team members sharing the same race number.
